Maybe I need to get out more, or it’s the recent sunshine, but I’ve got really itchy feet at the moment and am longing to hit the road, have a change of scenery and enjoy the great outdoors.
Of course, it doesn’t help that most days I’m talking or writing about motorhomes, campervans or caravans and have all the related magazines showing me tempting places to go. Worst still, weekend sporting commitments for my children mean I haven’t used the new towbar since it was fitted to my car (by www.tridenttowing.co.uk) in April. Tut, tut.., but I will be plonking my new Thule bike rack on it this weekend.
But I shouldn’t complain as I am lucky enough to have two trips in the pipeline, and without wanting the summer to whizz by too soon, the countdown has well and truly begun. Next month we’re due to hit the surf in Cornwall (can’t wait) by treating ourselves to a return visit to The Point in Polzeath, then the following month packing our bikes and hitching-up for a caravan trip to Holland in August staying at a couple of locations on the east and west sides of the country chosen from The Caravan Club’s foreign touring brochure. And I’ll be fitting in a work trip to the huge Dusseldorf Caravan Salon in Germany (the biggest show of its kind in Europe) while I’m over that side of the Channel.
And in the meantime, with another birthday coming up, there’s time to plan a micro-adventure, otherwise known as a day out, and it’s my birthday, so I get to choose. Picnic at Dover Castle watching the ferries come and go anyone?
