Rawlings Communications was established in June 2013 as a specialist PR and communications agency targeting the sectors it knows and loves the best – automotive and leisure. That includes commercial vehicles, cars, caravans, campervans, motorhomes and boats.
In a nutshell: we’ve written press releases, organised media and consumer events, generated product reviews, plus Tweeted, blogged and helped produce newsletters, brochures and websites. But most importantly, we’ve helped clients raise the profile of their brands or new products by generating editorial coverage and communications with their customers.
We love what we do and really do offer a unique combination of knowledge, experience and passion for the fields we work in – quite literally: we’ve taken caravan and motorhome road trips across the UK and Europe, driven big trucks and an electric bus, and even hosted press trips to Patagonia and above the Arctic Circle.
This passion and network of skilled associates has resulted in a portfolio of successful clients, which most notably includes:
- Wellhouse Leisure: the launch and ongoing support of the first UK campervan conversion based on the new Ford Transit Custom – voted ‘Campervan of the Year 2014’
- Bailey of Bristol: producing press releases, brochures and events for the leading UK caravan and motorhome manufacturer
- Tow Car Awards: promoting the results of the annual competition tested by experts from What Car? and Practical Caravan magazines and The Camping and Caravanning Club
John Rawlings
There’s no prizes for guessing that Rawlings Communications was started by John Rawlings who many still remember as ‘Mr Caravan’ from his time as a journalist for Practical Caravan magazine, and more recently from a 15 year PR career in the motor industry working for the leading brands of Vauxhall, then Volvo and then Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles launching new cars and commercial vehicles across consumer and trade media.
You may have seen John on Channel 4’s ‘The Real Holiday Show’ in about 1995, featuring a caravan roadtrip across the Arctic Circle to Norway’s North Cape, or in the many repeats of the BBC documentary, ‘Caravans: A British Love Affair’; and much more recently in his ‘How to buy the right caravan’ presentation in The Experts Theatre at The Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC.
Having always loved cars and caravans from a young age, and with an attic of magazines to prove it, working in the automotive and leisure sectors was an obvious career choice for John, which, as his Linked In profile shows, means he has generated an extensive network of media and industry contacts and experience of working for and representing global brands.
