When can we go caravanning again?

After last night’s update from the Prime Minister, when do you think campsites and caravan dealers will be able to reopen so we can all going away on holiday in our caravan, motorhome or campervan?

Boris Johnson said he will give more details in parliament today, so I’m sure we’re all looking forward to hearing that for some hope that the caravan and camping industry will be able to have some sort of a summer season.

When will lockdown restrictions be lifted or eased so that campsites can open and we can go caravanning again?
When can we go caravanning again?

I think it was important to give people some sort of path/vision of when the lockdown will be relaxed, and I think Boris explained it well.

I thought it looked promising that from July onwards more places like restaurants and shops may be able to reopen. Surely that will include campsites, etc, too? Just in time for the summer holidays. Fingers crossed.

When will campsites be able to open?

Campsites reopening will obviously result in more traffic on the roads and movement of people around the country – but once we’re there, having your own facilities in a caravan or motorhome will minimise interaction with others which makes them perfect for social distancing.

There are lots of people saying that if and when the lockdown restrictions are eased it will result in a boom for UK tourism and caravan sales as going abroad, particularly by aeroplane, will not be as easy.

In Australia, they’ve already started easing COVID19 restrictions and holiday parks have introduced measures to make it easy to check-in and pay while keeping a distance. Let’s hope this can happen here in Europe soon as well.

What we don’t need it another peak leading to more deaths and an even longer lockdown. In the meantime, we’ve got to keep our towballs covered, our campers stationary, and stayhome and staysafe.
